The Department of Art and Design seeks a committed educator with a demonstrated ability to teach broadly throughout a generalist Graphic Design curriculum. Candidates should have knowledge of a diverse range of approaches in the field of graphic design. Successful candidates will have emphasis in typography, branding, publication design, and/or emerging technologies. Candidates with interest in collaboration between Graphic Design and the Department’s other disciplines are encouraged to apply.This position will be assigned courses in lower- and upper-level Graphic Design and relevant Foundations courses. The appointment includes a 3/2 teaching load, maintenance of scholarship/creative practice, and service expectations including committee service, student advising, and departmental collaboration.Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Work Experience:
Terminal degree from an accredited institution in Graphic Design or related field and a minimum of two years of professional practice within the field of Design.Preferred Education and/or Work Experience:
Area of expertise is open; those with interests or training in more than one subject area are preferred. Experience teaching at the college or university level is strongly preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Diverse knowledge in the field of Graphic Design;Excellent pedagogical knowledge and skills;Excellent organizational and communication skills;Ability to work productively within a team;Knowledge and experience with assessment of student learning.Ability to appropriately use instructional technologies.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach upper and lower-level courses in graphic design and related courses, including Foundations.Participate in professional, university, and departmental service.Maintain active creative practice.Advise and mentor students.Assess and evaluate student learning.Facilitate and respond to diverse student learning needs.Employ an inclusive approach in the classroom.Other duties as assigned.Salary Information:
