Associate Director of Media OperationsJob Summary:Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of IMATS and Media Center, the Associate Director of Media Operations will work as a member of the IMATS/Media team to serve the teaching, learning, and scholarship needs at Barnard as they relate to media services. In particular, the Associate Director of Media Operations will oversee the operations of our critical service spaces: the IMATS Equipment Room, Sloate Media Center Production Studio, and Post-Production Computer Lab, both by utilizing their own expertise and drawing upon the wealth of knowledge available on the team.About IMATS Media Services & Sloate Media CenterOur team operates the media services arm of IMATS (Instructional Media and Technology Services) and the Sloate Media Center at Barnard College, a historically women’s undergraduate liberal arts college affiliated with Columbia University in the city of New York. We provide academic and extracurricular support for learning media skills and content creation on Barnard’s campus; working closely with students, staff, and faculty to make technical media and production skill learning accessible to the community at large.Below are some of the programs and services our team provides. Please note that we function as a team, and all team members including the Associate Director of Media Operations collaborate to provide these services - sometimes by taking the lead, and sometimes by supporting others.Maintain and operate our essential spaces that support media production on campus.Collaborate with faculty to support courses by providing technical workshops on podcasting, video production techniques, media editing, and related topics.Ideate, develop, and execute student-facing programming.Document academic events on campus through videography & photography services.Run the Emerging Filmmaker Mentorship Program (EFMP).Support the student production group The 1 Train Is Delayed.Collaborate with other centers and departments on initiatives and programming to further media creation/learning on campus.Individual consultations with students, staff, and faculty for their academic or extracurricular media projects.Provide one-on-one or group training for students on media production techniques and post-production software.Occasionally produce videos for special academic projects with a variety of campus partners.Job Duties & Responsibilities:Manage the equipment room, including hiring, scheduling, training, and managing student workers.Take ownership of the Media Production Studio and Post-production lab.Facilitate and provide instruction in media-making.Engage with undergraduate student programming.Conduct administrative work.Additional duties as needed.Skills, Qualifications & Requirements:Passionate about teaching and mentoring students.Wide range of technical knowledge across media.Ability to balance multiple projects & prioritize responsibilities.Attention to detail for precise communication.Supportive team player.Capacity to overcome operational hurdles.Eagerness to learn and improve skills.Familiarity with administrative tools.Required Qualifications:Project management experience.Experience with team management.Master’s degree or 4 years commensurate experience.Technical expertise in Adobe Suite.Proficiency in audio and video media content creation.Experience with teaching media production.Track record of managing workflows in relevant environments.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with media production purchasing.Experience in a higher education setting.On-set film production experience.Familiarity with video content post-production.Experience with creating and publishing podcasts.Physical Requirements:Physically able to lift and carry production equipment.Ability to perform customary office tasks.Schedule:35 hrs/week9 - 5 Monday through Friday defaultFlexibility for default hours on a case-by-case basisOccasional evenings and weekends with comp time for changesSalary Range:
$86,000-$90,000 annuallyThe salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors.Company:
