The following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.We are looking for an Associate Technical Director to join our team in North America. You will work closely with a team of experts working alongside our customers on some of North America's most significant projects.Your key responsibilities as
Associate Technical Director (Approximately 60%)
will be to:Perform tasks on projects requiring a broad and/or deep knowledge in a field of expertiseDevelop and implement design best practices in areas of expertisePromote strategic initiatives as delegated by the VPDevelop technical talent, including development and implementation of specialist training programs, identification of staff for advanced and/or specialized training, and mentoring of key staff in the specialized area of expertiseDevelop technical networks outside of COWI, including participation in technical conferences, publishing and presenting technical papers.As a
Project Manager (Approximately 25%) , you will:Manage assigned projects; andCarry out project management activities in accordance with the Company Quality System including, but not be limited to project scheduling, resource management, project budget controls, and client sub-contractor management and interfacing.As a
BD Account Manager (Approximately 10%) , you will:Provide leadership in business development and marketing activities for COWI including identifying, tracking, positioning, and pursuing project opportunities, and representing the Company in external settings including technical committees, conferences, seminars, professional bodies, and business groupsBuild and leverage a network of engineering and construction partners to position for transportation projectsBe responsible for developing and maintaining relations with specified key clients.As a part of the Regional Management Team, you will:Participate in periodic strategy meetings and contribute to the development and achievement of COWI NA and the COWI Group’s strategic priorities; andContribute to ensuring that COWI NA delivers and exceeds the budgeted financial performance.Your skills. Attracting and nurturing a diverse group of high-potential team members is at the top of your agenda, as is creating an inclusive, caring and trusting culture in your team.On top of that, you will:Hold a formal education in structural engineering, an advanced degree, i.e., Ph.D. or M.Eng. is preferredHave 15+ years of previous related engineering, project management, and business development experience with an emphasis on design, construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of structuresExperience with a wide range of complex bridge types including arches, cable stayed bridges, and suspension bridges an assetHave Professional Engineer status in CA, licenses in Canadian provinces and other US states considered an assetActively participate in National and International professional societiesHave experience and reputation with local clients such as various government organizations, local municipalities, contractors, and engineering partners.Comprehensive written and oral communication skillsKnow how to prepare proposals and review agreement termsBe able to work with staff located remotely and willing to travel predominantly in North AmericaA place to work and so much moreAt COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world.
