Responsibilities
Fills the role of EMS Telecommunications Specialist as needed.
Supervises the operations of the Communications Center.
Ensures the Communications Center is in a state of preparedness at all times.
Assures quality control of EMS Telecommunications Specialists’ work.
Schedules training and oversight of dispatch orientation and education in collaboration with EMS Clinical Quality Chief.
Promotes a cooperative and respectful relationship with other emergency personnel, entities, and/or agencies.
Supervises and ensures maintenance of communications equipment.
Maintains all records for the EMS Communications Center.
Maintains and updates all emergency manuals of the EMS Communications Center.
Prepares written reports and develops and submits statistical analysis of EMS Communications Center activity on a regular basis and as directed.
Develops and updates the EMS Communications Center Operational Policies and Procedures.
Sets the highest standard of knowledge of the operational aspects of computer and communications systems.
Has a proficient knowledge of communication procedures and etiquette and applies it correctly.
Has a strong working knowledge of the NARMC EMS coverage area.
Knowledgeable of the EMS Communications Center protocols and performs all included duties.
Performs other duties as instructed and assigned.
As a member of the EMS Administrative Leadership Team:
Maintains excellent professional working relationships with community partners.
Participates in NARMC and multi-agency committees, research projects, and preparedness projects.
Assists in the recruitment, selection, pre-hire testing, orientation, and evaluation of team members.
Regularly visits EMS stations to speak with team members. Responds to questions or concerns posed by team members.
Maintains excellent professional working relationships with local EMS training programs and participates in training EMS student professionals.
Participates in grant writing or grant administration activities as assigned.
Takes EMS administrative call on a rotating basis or as needed.
Assists crews in the field during periods of high volume, short staffing, or disaster situations.
Assumes other duties as assigned by the EMS Director.
Works closely with NARMC EMS Clinical Quality Chief, NARMC Operations Chief, and NARMC MIH Chief.
QualificationsRequired
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Minimum 1 year active Emergency dispatch.
Preferred
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field
