Job Description:
The Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Designer – RCDD will be responsible for the design of network and telecommunications infrastructure of multiple systems throughout cleared data centers and administrative areas. These systems include Point of Presence installation design, industrial control systems (building management, supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA), equipment monitoring systems), electronic security systems (intrusion detection and access control), Utilities Management Control System (UMCS) platform and communications systems to support operations and maintenance activities. The engineer will design to customer specifications and requirements and will support all telecommunications and network inquiries and business development activities.
Responsibilities:
- Design telecommunications systems for a cleared environment with multiple layers of classification that are compliant with Intelligence Community Standards (ICS) 705/706, Unified Facility Criteria (UFC) standards, Tempest, and RF shielding.
- Serve as the lead design telecom engineer and project manager on assigned projects from proposal development, requirement development to final commissioning stage.
- Telecommunications designer lead from initial concept through all design stages to issue of a “For Construction” design package.
- Develop construction specifications.
- Develop Basis of Design Philosophy.
- Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to and during construction phases.
- Develop bill of materials.
- Design to integrate to existing site infrastructure for each system.
- Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation and performance of communication and data center systems.
- Travel to sites for site review and work with onsite field engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, data center systems audits and start-up as needed.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external customers and partners on the planning of activities to ensure production needs are addressed with minimum schedule impacts.
Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, engineering or related field or 5-10 years equivalent experience.
Required Experience:
- BICSI accreditation - Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in government facility data center design including: IT, telecommunications, industrial control systems, and Utilities Management Control Systems design.
- Possess demonstrable working knowledge of BICSI, IBC, ANSI/TIA, and NFPA regulatory and code requirements to site facilities.
- Previous experience with building management and/or utility management systems.
- Can research new designs, technologies and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
- Demonstrable experience collaborating with other disciplines and external partners - General contractors or architects to create a construction document set.
- Proven leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Proven Project Management skills.
- Proven ability to work independently with little direction or supervision.
Desired Experience:
- Professional engineering (PE) License is desired.
- Previous experience with Cisco Cyber Vision.
- PMP certification.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance. You must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Top Secret or Secret required.
