Summary
:
This position assists the design originator while investigating data for routine design efforts by applying engineering fundamentals. (This position is responsible for providing project setup and design support to the project team for engineering projects.)
General Responsibilities:
Determine design criteria, drawing sequence, and presentation, sizing various system components, and refining rough sketches and notes to include material quantities and equipment specifications obtained from standard calculations and vendor catalogsUnderstand and Identify construction detailsSet up and maintain the project's coordinate system with Surveying DepartmentUnderstanding of typical survey components required on the plan setCalculate quantities and material take-offsAbility to determine slopes and grades for pavement complying with criteria while considering natural topographyRedline Design/Check/QAQC plan sets for CADDersMaintain and organize design Project Folders and appropriate documentationOther assigned duties as required
Required Education/Licenses:
Minimum of high school or technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience
Required Experience:
2 or more years of extensive drafting and engineering technician experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil design site/land developmentEffective communication skills both oral and writtenEffective interpersonal skills with coworkers and public agency officialsLimited contact with outside agencies and project team membersAbility to build strong relationshipsMust be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs
