Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Lexington Presbyterian Church in Lexington, South Carolina as they search for their next Director of Music and Worship. Lexington Presbyterian is firmly grounded in Reformed, Calvinist doctrine and values strong biblical preaching and teaching.
The Director of Music and Worship at Lexington Presbyterian Church (LPC) plays a vital role in creating Christ-centered, theologically rich worship experiences. This full-time position offers the opportunity to collaborate with the senior pastor in shaping meaningful worship liturgy, leading vocal and instrumental music, and cultivating a vibrant culture of congregational singing that beautifully blends traditional hymns with modern compositions.
The ideal candidate:
- Must have strong faith and align with Reformed doctrine.
- Leads blended, theologically rich worship incorporating Liturgy.
- Recruits, mentors, and leads a strong worship team.
- Communicates and collaborates well with teams.
- Leads blended worship with instrumental/vocal mastery.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Key responsibilities include directing choirs and worship teams, coordinating A/V needs, planning special services, and helping the congregation grow in their understanding and love of worship music. The ideal candidate will be a passionate follower of Christ with strong musical proficiency, leadership abilities, and a heart for church music ministry. Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Worship Planning & Collaboration – Work closely with the senior pastor to develop worship liturgy, selecting biblically grounded hymns, songs, and readings that align with the sermon text.
- Music Leadership & Direction – Lead and direct music for worship services, including overseeing the choir, worship team, and instrumental accompaniment.
- Volunteer & Team Coordination – Recruit, equip, and shepherd musicians, choir members, and technical team volunteers to enhance worship participation.
- Special Services & Programs – Plan and implement liturgy for special services (e.g., Christmas Eve, Good Friday) and work towards developing youth and children's choir programs.
- Technical & Administrative Oversight – Manage the music ministry budget, maintain church instruments, oversee A/V needs, and ensure the accuracy of worship guides and media projections.
