About the Role
The Senior Specialist, Public Relations will support strategic planning, visual storytelling, writing and editing, media relations, creative content development and project management for our expanding fleet of cruise ships. This position reports to the Manager, Public Relations.
- Strategy + Creativity: Able to think critically and strategically to combine media strategy with creative thinking to support story, content, message, and campaign development that align with business goals to drive meaningful results.
- Visual Presentation Development: Able to distill strategic plans into visually compelling, sleekly designed presentations that tell our stories and lay out our tactics, fact sheets, results, and more in thoughtful, impactful ways for partners and leaders. Background in graphic design and proficiency with visual apps (PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, Keynote, Canva) is a plus.
- Writing and Editing: Write, edit and proofread flawless content that is strategically crafted to convey key messages and generate positive editorial coverage. Writing for both news and blog or social platforms is critical, including a proven ability to identify, craft and pitch newsworthy stories and buzzy, reporter-style blog posts.
- Media Relations: Forge positive working relationships with reporters, editors and other news professionals. Research and identify new outlets and reporters, and diligently maintain media lists for Disney Cruise Line PR team.
- Visual Storytelling: Understand how to tell a compelling story through editorial assets (photography, video, infographics). Experience with photo/video production to support editorial storytelling is a plus.
- Coverage Reporting: Monitor and compile earned and social media coverage, and distill into strategic, easily digestible reports to share with partners and leaders.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
- 4+ years of public relations or communications experience
- Highly organized with strong administrative and time management skills
- Excellent writing and storytelling, presentation, and research skills, with an understanding of how to effectively communicate to different audiences
- Command of Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft PowerPoint, Keynote, Canva or other visual apps
- Experience managing projects and campaign initiatives with an understanding of overarching goals, objective, and relevant considerations
- Proficiency with both Associated Press and blog-style writing
- Understanding of the media landscape and experience working with media
- Ability and willingness to learn new software applications
- Trusted to maintain confidential information
- Ability to execute on multiple projects with competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the cruise and travel industries
- Understanding of 360-degree communications concepts and strategies, across earned, owned, and social media platforms
