Supervises technical and creative aspects of videotape production including post-production and distribution.MSU Extension is seeking a Video Producer to creatively tell stories about our community programming, focusing on nutrition and physical activity educational programming. In this newly created position, you will produce high-quality, professional video productions for the MSU Extension Health and Nutrition Institute. You will lead the development, production, and editing of video promotions, interviews, news stories, and special projects.Video production work will include shooting video and photographs on and off campus and producing marketing pieces vital to achieving marketing goals and telling the impact story of MSU Extension’s health and nutrition programs. You should have the ability to work independently as well as collaborate closely with communications staff, manage timelines, and possess effective project management skills. The content you produce will be featured on MSU Extension’s websites, social media, and email.This position may require travel to various county/district offices in Michigan to shoot video footage. It is a full-time, end-dated appointment, renewable annually based upon continued funding.Characteristic Duties/Responsibilities
Conceives, produces and edits videotape promotions, interviews, news stories, and special projects.Creates storyboards to align with goals and video briefing materials.Manages videotaping, lighting, and sound to capture high-quality content.Directs, designs, and edits scripts for video stories.Performs and leads interviews with various subjects.Tracks and coordinates assignment progress using project management software.Maintains knowledge of MSU branding standards and accessibility requirements.Other duties as assigned.Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Media Technology, Telecommunications or Broadcast Journalism.One to three years of related work experience in videotape editing and production.Experience with multimedia editing software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Desired Qualifications
