Overview
The Tor Publishing Group is seeking an Editorial Assistant to support two executive editors from acquisition to publication and beyond. In addition to coordinating all aspects of a fast-paced, high volume editorial desk, the successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The Editorial Assistant can expect to work with speculative genre fiction, science fiction, fantasy, upmarket commercial fiction and romance.
What You'll Do:
Prepare publication materials, including contract requests, title information sheets, jacket copy, and cover concept memos
Transmit and traffic manuscripts through production, liaising with authors to meet publishing deadlines
Evaluate manuscript submissions, prepare reader reports, and draft rejection letters
Act as liaison to various departments including marketing, publicity, and operations
Support editors in the maintenance and growth of titles and authors across imprints
Provide administrative duties as they arise, including author book mailings, processing invoices and expense reports.

Exhibits sense of urgency & follow through in assigned tasks; proactively communicates status updates of tasks
Passion for speculative genre fiction, with an interest in science fiction, fantasy, upmarket commercial fiction and romance a plus
This role will have an annual salary of $50,000.
