As the Head of Content Acquisition for The Wonder Project reporting to the President, you will be responsible for building and implementing the overall content strategy for The Wonder Project, including: a) assessing content genres, categories and volume of content to satisfy audience needs, b) evaluating, pricing and negotiating programming deals as the company’s day-to-day point of contact with major and independent studios and agencies, c) curating a daily programming offering, d) utilizing content performance analytics for ongoing content optimization and efficiency and e) leading the process of setting, managing and updating the budget for programming investment for the company. You will partner with the product, marketing, distribution/partnerships, business affairs and finance teams to evaluate content engagement, constantly evolve The Wonder Project’s library and acquisitions rights and windows, create growth opportunities with key partners and optimize for efficient growth, engagement and retention.The ideal candidate is passionate about The Wonder Project’s audience and dedicated to serving them with quality series and movies that inspire, delight and engage. You are an out-of-the-box creative thinker with a passion for creative deal-making. You have a meticulous eye for detail, highly analytical and organized, a team player and can pivot at a moment’s notice in a fast-paced, high growth, start-up environment.Day to Day:Identify potential acquisitions, track available programming opportunities across current and former TV shows and movies and determine value to The Wonder Project.Collaborate with the President to create programming and acquisition strategy and secure C-suite feedback, alignment and support.Independently negotiate, close and manage relationships with distributors at major and independent studios and agencies in partnership with business and legal affairs and finance.Serve as an expert on new distribution rights, and effectively interpret and create acquisition frameworks to ensure The Wonder Project is at the forefront of the business.Oversee budget documents, laying out possible acquisition scenarios, searching for creative ways to acquire new products at highly competitive pricing.Partner with product, marketing, distribution/partnerships, business and legal affairs and finance stakeholders to develop creative content gap analysis by category, tiers and customer segments, to connect content acquisition strategies to demand on an ongoing and scalable basis.Supervise the population of the content management system with all relevant information, for content to be programmed properly.Create and present various reports to help manage the acquisitions process and internal key stakeholder buy-in.Evaluate key performance analytics to optimize programming strategy, inform future content acquisitions, determine content valuation frameworks for ongoing programming and investment decision-making.Manage acquisition team members over time, supervising tasks such as: program acquisition financial analyses, inventory, and competitive tracking of content on other platforms.What you bring to the table:At least 7 years of experience in the field of content licensing in the television and/or streaming industries, either as a content buyer or seller.Respect for and deep understanding of the The Wonder Project audience.Clearly established knowledge of and respected long-standing relationships with studios and agencies. Co-production experience and knowledge of both domestic and international content distributors is a plus.Demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships and collaborate with internal senior executives and peers across a high-volume, fast-paced, and innovative start-up culture.Experience in driving decision-making through data plus a keen creative instinct for potentially successful content and the foresight to acquire this content ahead of competitors. Passion for television and movie content from all genres.Creative thinker with the ability to understand demand and to ideate new content and programming solutions to drive growth against demand.Strong business and financial acumen with a clear ability to form judgments and actionable recommendations, toggling seamlessly between strategy and execution.Proven experience working across a wide array of deal memos and acquisitions contracts, with exceptional attention to detail.A self-starter, who is assertive, enthusiastic, and highly motivated.Highly organized and able to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects and drive them to completion.Proficiency with G-Suite, ability to learn new software.History of generating positive, productive work environments.Impeccable personal and business ethics.Salary & BenefitsSalary + Bonus Range: $160,000-$210,000Equity participation in management option pool (Series A company)The Wonder Project, Inc. is an equal employment opportunity employer.
