Job Summary:Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Communications and Culture, the Multimedia Specialist will be responsible for creating photo and video assets to accompany and illuminate stories written by the marketing and communications department. The position will develop press kits, produce effective and compelling multimedia products and serve as the department's primary photographer and videographer.The Multimedia Specialist will provide news and information for target audiences, including the general public, to effectively communicate and amplify College of Engineering news on research, awards and spotlights in alignment with the college's strategic vision and UC Davis' strategic priorities and key messages.As a member of the College of Engineering's 7-member marketing and communications team, the Multimedia Specialist will gather and prepare multimedia assets, including photographs and videos, to communicate news and information about College of Engineering research, awards and spotlights of faculty, students, and alumni.Apply By Date:

The position can be filled prior to the removal date.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.Experience conceptualizing and executing the techniques of photography and video production for visual storytelling and storyboarding.Experience in writing for general audiences, using preferred media writing styles for print, web and social media outlets.Project management experience with organizational skills to effectively monitor and manage multiple projects, overlapping deadlines and tasks.Interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills to interact with administrators, faculty, staff, students, practitioners and the public.Skills to maintain confidentiality of sensitive issues/matters, and to exercise discretion in dealing with controversial or potentially sensitive topics.Preferred Qualifications:Experience using social and online media best practices to help advance an institution's reputation and reach.Knowledge of the academic programs and disciplines in the College of Engineering.Skills with graphic design, motion graphics and brand alignment.Ability to learn, understand and work effectively within campus editorial, web and graphics standards.Key Responsibilities:65% - MULTIMEDIA COMMUNICATIONS20% - CREATIVE SERVICES AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT10% - DATABASE MAINTENANCE AND ORGANIZATION OF DEPARTMENT HISTORICAL COMMUNICATION RECORDS5% - OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNEDDepartment Overview:The Marketing and Communications team is part of the College of Engineering Dean's Office and reports to the dean with dotted-line reporting to the executive assistant dean. The unit serves the dean, college leadership team, and the college community through the planning and implementing of a comprehensive strategic communications effort.Position Information:Salary or Pay Range: $29.69/hr. - $52.20/hr.
