Job Summary: Responsible for creating and constructing merchandise displays in Navy Exchange facilities. May perform clerical functions and drive in performance of duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Constructs, arranges, and maintains effective and artistic visual merchandising presentations and displays in appropriate interior and exterior Exchange locations including walls, showcases, windows, shelves, and countertops.
2. Decorates designated areas such as showcases, ledges, shelves, and fixtures.
3. Sets up focal displays near entrances of the Exchange to attract customers' attention, designed to support seasonal moods and/or special merchandising events.
4. Prepares appropriate signs, show cards, etc.
5. Works with store management personnel in connection with decoration and display requirements, including designing and assembling key department displays.
6. Sets up mannequins, center counter columns, and shadow box displays as instructed.
7. Enters information into a computer for sign making, determines layout, color selection, and reviews copy for compatibility with formats.
8. Utilizes a desktop publishing program to prepare specifications for printed materials and signs.
9. May receive requisitions from Exchange departments for specific sign printing projects and prints display signs.
10. Delivers completed signs to requesting departments and assists with their installation.
11. Responsible for the safekeeping of props, mannequins, tools, and fixtures in a clean and orderly storage area.
12. Maintains records and logs on duplicating and sign-making services provided.
13. Assists in determining the signing formats to meet particular needs.
14. Takes publicity photographs and writes articles for placement in the employee newsletter on sales and events.
15. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Driver's license required for positions assigned driving responsibilities. Climbing ladders and moderate lifting of objects occasionally weighing up to 50 lbs is a requirement of this position.

General Experience:

2 years experience demonstrating the necessary mechanical and artistic skills required for visual merchandising display and communication.

Substitution of Experience for Experience:

1. Education successfully completed in specialized schools of interior decoration, design, or art may be substituted for experience year for year.
2. 1 year of education successfully completed in an accredited college or university may be substituted for each year of experience, provided an average of six semester hours a year included courses in interior decoration, design, architecture, commercial art, or related fine arts courses.
