Summary
The Associate Graphic Designer will be partnering with senior creatives and reporting to the art director to manage the entire process of defining requirements, visualizing, and creating graphics including illustrations, logos, layouts and photos. The graphic designer will be responsible for both design and production of all creative materials, including visual aspects of websites, advertising, product packaging, exhibitions and more. This designer will be working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple design project deadlines. This designer will need to execute within brief and brand guidelines provided, working some from templates and some from scratch.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Study design briefs and determine requirements needed
Schedule projects and define concept constraints
Conceptualize visuals based on design brief
Prepare rough drafts and present ideas to the art director, creative director or marketing team
Develop illustrations, logos, web graphics and other designs using software or by hand
Must be able to read, understand and adhere to several brand guidelines and style guides and in turn use appropriate colors, typography and other design thematic elements in layouts for each design project
Work with copywriters and art director to produce final designs
Test graphics across various media
Must be able to take constructive design criticism, positive and negative, and amend designs after feedback
Ensure final graphics and layouts are visually appealing and on-brand
Minimum Education and Experience
Degree in Design, Fine Arts or related field
One (1) year of proven graphic design experience is required. Three (3) years or more is highly desired.
A strong portfolio showing a variety of graphic design, web, packaging design, and/or illustration work
Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
A keen eye for aesthetics and details
Experience in the CPG industry is a plus, but not required
Excellent communication skills
Website development or platform experience is a plus (Wordpress, CMS systems, Google SEO, etc.)
Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another. May need to access files, supplies and equipment. Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment.
