Working as a
Communications Specialist
for Chartwells Higher Education at the
University of Nevada, Reno (UNR)
will allow you the opportunity to work with GREAT people like yourself! You will be surrounded by people who are passionate about what they do, and you will have a high level of interaction with key stakeholders at both Chartwell's
and UNR. In this position, you will be responsible for providing high-level support to the Executive Leadership Team; as well as crafting, coordinating, and facilitating enterprise-wide communications, and strategic communications between Chartwells and our UNR client.
In this role, a variety of tasks are performed, including but not limited to:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCommunications, Public Relations, Marketing & Media RelationsCreate and execute communication plansDevelop and write copy for newsletters, events and programs for use on-line and offline, including but not limited to press releases, social media posts, budget narratives and internal and external email communicationsManage the development and distribution of print and electronic collateralCollaborate with the Marketing and Communication team to develop content for paid, owned and earned mediaManage and develop key communications with Corporation Board membersBuild, maintain and manage relationships with key media and partner organizations for information sharing and co-marketingWork with university communicators to ensure coordinated promotion, appropriate use of brands and facilitate information sharingConceptualize and create opportunities to engage with the local and national stakeholders, including key speaking opportunitiesIdentify and propose internal stories to help promote awareness of the Corporation and Administration to the media and general publicEstablish, maintain and report on relevant metrics and results for all communication programsOrganize and manage other special events, projects and programs as neededAdditional duties as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of two years in related communications or public relations field experience.Exceptional organizational and computer skillsHighly motivated, flexible and capable of multi-taskingMake sound judgments, using tact and diplomacy to respond to conflicts and problemsManage a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities and maintain confidentialityExcellent written and verbal communication skills including speaking in publicProven resourcefulness to work under pressure and to work with tight deadlinesExperience with various e-mail marketing and press management software
