Job Summary: The Social Media and Public Relations Manager within Institutional Communications proactively manages the University's social media strategy, writes and edits content and manages public relations activities.

Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.The below qualifications are expected for this position:- Exceptional copywriting skills, with an emphasis on press releases, editorial features and messaging.- Ability to work independently and analyze issues.- Social media management and strategy experience.- Strong ability to pay close attention to detail.- Strong ability to develop creative social media content.- Strong ability to multi-task and monitor several platforms.- Strong oral communication skills.- Ability to think and act quickly (self-starter/highly motivated/proactive).- Outstanding organizational skills with the proven ability to consistently produce high-quality projects and initiatives under tight deadlines.- Expert knowledge of Associated Press style.- A positive, can-do attitude with a customer-centric focus.- Ability to analyze social media data and trends.- One or more internship(s) within the communications industry.

Preferred Qualifications The below qualifications are preferred for this position:- Two or more years of experience in communications.- Bachelor's degree in marketing or communications.- Experience with media relations.- Experience working in or with higher education.- Experience using digital communication tools such as publicity software, project management systems, cloud-based storage services and others.- Experience developing and evaluating communication plans, strategies and briefs.- Agency or in-house communication team experience.- Experience with crisis communications.- Experience in developing photo and video concepts.

Essential Functions / Job Duties:

50% - Social Media: Proactively develops and manages the institution's social media strategy. Develops strategic social media plans, observes social media trends and follows University news, events and promotional information to develop content for the official UWF social media outlets. Identifies photography, video and creative resources needed and works with team members to gather appropriate resources. Develops social media reports and analyzes data to enhance strategy. Manages the hiring process, on-boarding, training and development of social media student assistants. Serves as the staff lead for the UWF Street Team and manages the interview and selection process of the social media ambassadors. Serves as a member of the Crisis Communications team and monitors social media outlets to report all questions, comments and other online activity to the team and responds to all questions and comments. - (Essential)20% - Writing and Editing: Writes and copy edits media alerts, press releases, messaging, talking points, editorial features, presidential communications, social media and web copy, copy for communication collateral materials and internal projects and reports. Ensures adherence to grammar, spelling and AP Style in all communications. Develops social media monitoring/response schedule and assists with the development of draft messages, talking points, frequently asked questions and other supplemental documents in the event of a crisis. - (Essential)20% - Public Relations: Assists with developing public relations plans and strategies to increase visibility of the institution. Organizes, manages and ensures timely execution of public relations projects from beginning to completion including objectives, deliverables, schedules, budget and evaluation. Works with campus partners to identify objectives and goals and effectively translates and communicates these to the team. Gathers, prepares and provides detailed and accurate project information to team members via the department's project management system and monitors deadlines. - (Essential)10% - PR Tools, Reports and Operations: Manages the University Newsroom, media relations and publicity database, spreadsheets and various other communication tools. - (Essential)
