About this job:

This role will oversee the graphic design body of work, including leading design intake and prioritization processes, district and school brand management, compliance with design accessibility standards, long-term strategic planning, supervising the graphic design team, and supporting daily operations for design support for the district and its schools. This role will have a unique understanding of graphic design and creative strategy to grow district and school brand integrity and ensure high-quality work that provides information in a way that is easily accessible to families and community members. Acts as a technical design subject matter expert with an advanced design skillset, and the ability to lead high-profile projects on behalf of the superintendent, district, and school leadership.

What You'll Do:

Utilize creative and technical expertise of graphic design software, project management tools, and design accessibility standards to lead creative projects from concept to completion in support of the district, its departments, and its schools, through print and digital media.

Provide guidance, design support, and templates to assist in the onboarding of district and school leadership and teammates. Oversee efforts to maintain brand integrity across all platforms.

Collaborate with team members, district departments, district leaders, and school leaders and vendors to educate and apply branding strategies on internal and external materials.

Manage design intake process, including reviewing design requests, following up with requests, assigning resources to projects, managing priorities, timelines, and deliverables, and running monthly design reports to look for areas of improvement.

Consult on design and production issues to empower team members, strengthen efficiency, and find cost-effective solutions.

Develop campaigns and marketing materials, and guide branding efforts by developing and pitching brand proposals to stakeholders at both the school and district level.

Provide strategic planning, design support, and artwork approval on design projects. Act as the main point of contact for design requests from district and school leadership.

Work cross-functionally with the communications team by providing art direction on websites, social media, and other digital channels.

Implement and manage the maintenance of accessible designs that adhere to web accessibility standards, laws, and regulations.

Oversee other member(s) of the team; determine project priorities, oversee project development, and provide feedback and guidance on design deliverables.

What You’ll Need:

High school diploma/equivalent is required.

Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, or related arts field preferred.

Five (5) plus years of comprehensive experience in graphic design, art direction, or creative services management.

Experience with design accessibility standards.

Two (2) or more years of management experience.

Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Workspace, and project management systems such as Asana.

Excellent interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to collaborate with others on challenging, time-sensitive projects as a team player.

Ability to assess appropriate priorities and organize workload on multiple assignments.

Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Models excellent customer service.

High degree of integrity in handling confidential information.

Ability to communicate effectively in a credible and confident manner at all levels in the organization, both orally and in writing.

Advanced technical experience with branding, layout, color theory, and typography in both print and digital media.

Experience in the education industry preferred.

Bilingual skills in English and Spanish a plus; experience designing bilingual collateral preferred.
