General Description:
SUNY Niagara has a need for a part-time Music Instructor for our all College Choir. The all College Choir is a vocal ensemble devoted to performing choral literature, focusing on choral styles and vocal production, and will perform several times each semester on- and off-campus (usually offered Fall and Spring semesters). This course is taught in person on our Sanborn, NY campus. Classes will involve rehearsing and performing selected works. Students will rehearse selected pieces, perfecting notes and rhythms while working on musical concepts such as tone quality, phrasing, dynamics, articulations, and balance. Students will be expected to sing and play upon instructor request and at all performances.
Remuneration: For persons teaching at least 3 credits in a semester: $915 per lecture hour/$819 per lab hour.
Typical Work Activities:
- Teach course on campus.
- Track attendance as needed.
- Report on student learning outcomes at the end of the semester.
- Report grades at the conclusion of the semester.
Essential Functions:
Ability to work with and teach a diverse student population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors, and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare, and present information. Must be able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position and must adjust any teaching to the Americans with Disabilities Act provisions.
Required Qualifications:
- Three years of experience teaching at a high school or college level.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Music or related field.
- Experience using Microsoft Office software (i.e., Excel and Word).
- Experience with the Brightspace learning management system.
