Job Title: Instrumental Music Teacher

Work Year: 165 days

Reports To: School Principal

Salary Range: $45,000-$94,315

Status: FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

The primary responsibility of the Instrumental Music Teacher is to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Performs instructional and related duties in accordance with District policies and terms of the teacher contract. The Teacher also maintains a cooperative attitude with staff, parents, and students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  1. Valid Colorado Teaching License within 60 days from date of hire
  2. Music Endorsement or Teacher must be highly qualified in applicable content area through the following options:
    1. Endorsement on a Colorado teaching license
    2. 36 semester credit hours applicable to content area - Music
    3. Passing score on a State Board of Education approved content exam (currently the ETS Praxis Series)
    4. Be eligible for a TiR or Alternative Licensing Program in content area
  3. Employee must complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check and must be cleared by the Office of Human Resources
  4. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. 3-5 years successful teaching as demonstrated by references, evaluations and student growth data
  2. Experience implementing effective literacy instruction including foundational skills and comprehension strategies
  3. Experience using Common Core State standards to plan instruction
  4. Experience with a blended learning model or a desire to learn
  5. Experience with AVID implementation or a desire to learn
  6. Experience in a Title I setting or low income setting
  7. Experience with Teach Like A Champion Strategies
  8. Successful experience implementing strong classroom routines and procedures demonstrated by references and evaluations
  9. Experience with STEM based educational philosophy and instructional practices

  1. Provide a variety of classroom techniques and methods
  2. Promote high levels of achievement in relation to individual student abilities
  3. Utilize current and relevant subject matter
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to use research-based principles of effective instruction
  5. Organize instruction using learning objectives with clearly defined student outcomes
  6. Prepare effectively for class and daily lesson plans
  7. Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Perform any and all other duties as assigned by Building Administrators.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Employee will work primarily in a school/office environment with both natural and fluorescent lighting; fast-paced work; constant interruptions.
