About This RoleAs the Marketing & Communications Director, you will lead a talented team to create and execute comprehensive marketing and communication plans. Your role will involve:Leadership & Strategy:
Lead the Marketing & Communications team, providing clear direction, motivating team members, and ensuring alignment with the county's goals. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence.Branding & Advertising:
Develop and oversee effective branding and advertising strategies to enhance Prince William County's image as a premier location for business. Implement creative tactics to build and maintain a strong, recognizable brand.Outreach Marketing & Lead Generation:
Utilize various marketing tools and channels, including web, mobile, social media, and traditional advertising, to promote the county's assets and opportunities. Design and execute outreach marketing programs to generate new business leads and cultivate relationships with potential prospects.Communications Management & Media Relations:
Engage with media outlets to pitch stories, respond to inquiries, and gain valuable earned media to promote the county. Direct the production of press releases, newsletters, and other communication materials to ensure consistent messaging and maximum exposure.Event Management:
Plan and execute successful trade shows, special events, and community engagement initiatives to support lead generation and promote Prince William County as a business-friendly environment.Minimum RequirementsCandidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this position:High school diploma or G.E.D. and 8 years of related experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, digital media, and graphic designProven experience in developing and implementing effective communications strategies and managing marketing campaignsPreferencesPreferred candidates will have:A Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, digital media, business, or a related fieldA master's degree or 10 or more years of work experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, digital media, business, or related fieldRelevant certifications in marketing or communicationsExperience in economic development marketingProficiency in CRM programs such as Salesforce and HubSpotStrong project management skills and experience with vendor contractsFamiliarity with inbound/outbound marketing and web-based content management systemsSpecial RequirementsThis role requires occasional travel for trade shows and conferences. A valid driver's license, background check, and credit check are mandatory. Physical demands include standard office duties with occasional lifting of materials for events.
Work ScheduleThe Department operates from Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, though this role may require occasional evening and weekend commitments. Travel will be required on an as-needed basis. Additionally, there is an opportunity for regular telework, subject to mutual agreement and alignment with departmental needs.
Starting Salary Range: $104,500.50 - $135,846.75 (Min to Mid)
