This full-time position involves carrying out all production tasks for the Concordia Commentary series or other assigned products, including copyediting, formatting, and ensuring adherence to professional and CPH standards. The role supports the Concordia Commentary Editor by fulfilling various duties and working closely with the editorial and design teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Place electronic files in the commentary template and apply style tags.
- Input Greek and Hebrew text as necessary.
- Oversee freelance copyeditors.
- Review manuscripts for Scriptural conformity, doctrinal accuracy, style, grammar, clarity, and factual correctness.
- Manage electronic layout files, including page sets, marginal icons, and changes in Hebrew and Greek.
- Oversee the preparation and review of indexes and printer's proofs.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Scripture, LCMS doctrine, and biblical languages (Hebrew and Greek).
- Proficiency in biblical research, editing, and desktop publishing software, especially Adobe InDesign.
- Master of Divinity Degree or equivalent, with at least four years of theological editing/writing experience.
- Strong communication, research, and critical analysis skills.
