Job Title:
Specialist, Graphic Designer POSITION PROFILE The Graphic Designer develops and designs complex, multimedia visual communications, often under tight deadlines. These may include materials for conferences/events, internal marketing materials, brochures, publications, and web page designs. The individual is responsible for visual concepts that meet customer needs and prepares designs for print, web, or multimedia products, specifying production techniques and materials. Key responsibilities include selecting fonts, creating title hierarchies, following style manuals or corporate standards, creating layouts, and editing illustrations and photographs. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates excellent customer service skills and represents RICOH professionally. Strong organizational, customer service, and follow-up skills. Develops new artistic concepts into visual mediums. Designs using expertise in
InDesign ,
Photoshop ,
Illustrator , and
Dreamweaver
(Mac and PC platforms). Provides graphic consultation to clients and internal stakeholders. Responsible for production art, including page layouts for print, packaging, advertising, point-of-purchase materials, and digital graphics. Meets customer quality and design requirements. Designs and formats multipage documents using style sheets and style mapping. Stays knowledgeable about industry trends, new ideas, and technologies. Innovates to meet design briefs while adhering to cost, time, and client needs. Adheres to legal requirements related to duplication, printing, software, and fonts. Follows production schedules and deadlines. Consults with clients and staff to identify graphic needs, budget constraints, and reasonable deadlines. Serves as a liaison between clients and printers/publishers. Reviews proofs and works with printers on the production of printed material. Familiar with asset management technologies and able to manage libraries. May coordinate and lead the work of other designers. Creates and conceptualizes property identities using logos, layout, and color palettes. Performs other tasks as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Certifications) Typically Required: 4-year college degree in
Design
preferred, or related coursework/certificates, or equivalent years of related work experience. Intermediate to advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills. Proven design and layout abilities. Requires a minimum of
three years of related job experience . Print production experience
preferred. Project management experience
preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Graphic design and layout skills. Ability to use desktop publishing tools, specifically
Adobe Creative Suite
and
Microsoft Suite . Must be able to work effectively in a team environment, maintaining positive relationships with co-workers, management, sales, and production departments. Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing situations. Ability to perform repetitive work while maintaining quality and output standards. Strong attention to detail. Creativity and flexibility in design. Must be deadline-oriented. WORKING CONDITIONS, MENTAL, AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting, ventilation, and a normal temperature/noise range. Requires internal contact within the department and with other corporate personnel, as well as external contact with customers, agencies, vendors, and the general public. Work assignments are diversified; prior examples may be used to resolve work problems, and new alternatives may be developed when needed. Physical effort is required, such as walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects (up to 50 lbs) like papers, books, files, and small parts. Requires moderate dexterity for the regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, and eye/hand coordination).
