The Marketing Manager provides supervision of the marketing team and works with the sales team to provide oversight of key marketing functions and create tools and programming enabling the achievement of annual sales objectives. This position acts as a liaison between the sales and marketing teams and is a key position within the company. Responsibilities include day-to-day supervision of the marketing team, developing effective tools for the sales team as well as developing strategic recommendations to improve the performance of our products in the market. Additional responsibilities in the development of brand plans, product positioning, consumer/trade promotions, product launches, pricing, budget development and management, business reviews and analytics as well as ad hoc projects are also expected.Duties & Responsibilities
Manage the company’s Marketing team based in our Beaverton, Oregon office, providing effective mentoring, career development and leadershipAssist in the development of brand plans, brand/product positioning, new product launches and promotions targeting both on- and off-premise channelsTake a lead role in the management of outside agencies and vendorsManage the company’s marketing budget, with an eye on ROI and effectivenessCommunicate frequently with our sales team to ensure effective development of tools, promotion analysis and adherence to budget and brand standardsAnalyze brand performance quarterly to ensure business objectives are being met and proactive corrective actions are being taken as neededDevelop comprehensive calendar of marketing activities, promotions, events, product launches and product focus periodsWork closely with the VP of Sales to provide best-in-class marketing support and sake/product education tools for the trade and consumersWork in the market to champion company brands and gain understanding of trade and consumer needs as appropriate. Represent brands at industry and special events and participate in wholesaler meetings as needed, some travel expectedAct as company/brand/sake ambassador at consumer and trade events and distributor meetingsJob Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related discipline is desiredMinimum of 5 years marketing experience, ideally in the alcohol beverage industryAt least 2 years of experience managing a teamKnowledge of saké or strong desire to acquire saké knowledge and appreciationStrong Microsoft Office skills with the ability to create compelling, easy to understand, visually appealing presentations. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) a plusUnderstanding of the three-tier distribution system strongly preferredSolid experience and comfort giving presentations in front of groups of 15 or moreStrong communication skills; articulate effectively both verbally and in written formExceptional creativity, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilitiesMust manage time and prioritize tasks – highly motivated with the ability to work independently with strong project management skillsUnderstanding of Nielsen/IRI data – the ability to compile reports and interpret dataKnowledge of SEO/SEM, comfort managing social media channels and digital advertising campaignsMust be able to foster a highly productive, motivated, and fun environment in the officeAttend frequent meetings and events in our Forest Grove, OR facility and around the Portland metropolitan areaCompensation / Benefits
