The Head of Audio reports to the Technical Director and works closely with other shop staff to support the School’s Mission, Vision, Values & Commitments. The role requires collaboration with faculty and staff to support the school's commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion and involves maintaining equipment and ensuring safety standards.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSound and Video Head [55%]
Engineer and lead the installation of sound and video systems for productions and events.Train and oversee temporary hires, student labor, and student crews as audio/video technicians.Recommend, install, troubleshoot, and repair sound and video equipment.Provide guidance to student designers through the theatrical production process.Lead sound and video activities during load-in, technical rehearsals, and striking of productions.Maintain sound and video equipment, and consult on purchases for production spaces.Ensure that safety procedures are followed.
Shop Support [35%]
Assist in SoD-related events and classes.Assist in other areas of SoD theatre productions, particularly with lighting.Comply with regulations, University, and departmental policies and procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSTwo years of experience as Stage Technician I or equivalent experience and education.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSA job element examination (including written, E & T, and oral components) scored on the basis of job-related experience, training, skill, ability, and other elements which are established through job analysis.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSProficiency with sound installation and engineering.Experience with digital consoles and Dante networks.Experience in rigging, lighting, scenery, multi-media, painting, and/or props.Knowledge of theatre industry standard safety protocols and procedures.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, drafting, flow diagrams/schematics.Ability to use Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD.Experience in leading crews.Proficient in the operation and maintenance of a wide variety of shop tools and equipment.Current with the latest sound technologies and innovations.Knowledge of wired and wireless communication systems, such as Clear-Com.Soldering skills as pertains to sound, video, and lighting equipment and cabling.Proficiency with QLab and Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs).Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team.Openness to personal growth.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTAbility to lift up to 70 pounds with assistance.Ability to climb and work on ladders.Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet.Valid driver’s license.Special Hours Requirements:
