Full TimeSalary Range : $131,000 - $168,000, depends upon locationTHE OPPORTUNITYThe Art Director is responsible for leading the art team on a new project in creating high quality assets and work in conjunction with team directors to deliver a compelling game play experience in the Live Development Dept. at Rogue Planet Games in San Diego, CA. Reporting to the Executive Producer, this position will be responsible for:Establishing a unified artistic direction, vision, and high production standard in the creation of a polished cross-platform gameLeading the collaborative development of conceptual artwork, sketches, storyboards and product pitches which define and convey your artistic visionActively taking part in the game development process to ensure we create a clear artistic visionCommunicating art direction goals on an executive level with corporate teams and external partnersWorking with the Creative Director/Studio Heads to ensure that art priorities are effectively defined, and processes meet the product’s goals in a timely fashionContributing innovative ideas and/or original assets for all aspects of game prototyping, production, and developmentThe creation of style guides and related materials for internal and external teamsPlaying game on a regular basis and provide feedback on visualsRegularly meeting with art leads to define art quality standardsProviding inspiration to art staff and facilitating training opportunities to develop all art disciplinesOverseeing all art hiring, training, development & resourcingWhat craft expertise you’ll have:Tools/Technology /Knowledge
UE3/UE4 experience is a plus
Craft Experience
Extensive experience and knowledge of technical and traditional art processes and production pipelinesExcellent eye for graphical quality and knowledge of techniques used to achieve specific visual targets
Other CriteriaExperience
Years of Experience: 5+ years industry experience as a Senior Artist/Art DirectorRequired: Experience leading a team with strength in collaborating with Senior and Executive level leadership teamsDesired: Strong experience developing for a live product, 1 shipped MMO, Action or RPG title preferred
