With over 130 years of experience, the culture at St John WA is underpinned by a strong team spirit, camaraderie and the collaboration of employees and volunteers working together to change lives.Our Communications Officers are based within our State Operations Centre which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week located in Belmont or at our Northern hub in Wangara. The State Operations Centre is responsible for receiving all ambulance emergency (000) and non-emergency calls made within Western Australia. The role of our Communications Officers is to deliver pre-arrival instructions, including first aid advice, before the arrival of an ambulance.Once successful, you will be offered full-time employment with St John WA and to prepare you for this life-changing role you will commence a comprehensive induction and training program, working towards a certificate of competency in Ambulance Communications. You will need to be prepared to undertake shift work, comprising of 12-hour days from 7 am to 7 pm and nights 7 pm to 7 am, on a rotational basis.Pre-requisitesExcellent communication both written and oralThe ability to remain calm in high-pressure situationsStrong ability to multitaskExcellent attention to detailWillingness to contribute to the communityProven ability to make critical decisions within time constraintsProven keyboard skills and typing abilitiesBe willing and able to commit to a rotational shift work rosterAbility to read and interpret maps and knowledge of the Perth Metropolitan AreaMust be a permanent resident or citizen of Australia with permanent on-going working rightsTo apply for this exciting opportunity, please select
