Overview
The Technical Designer is a support position on the mechanical engineering staff, with emphasis on mechanical drawings, drafting, tooling design, procurement and general support for assembly and test efforts. Reports to the IPT Lead.

Supports proposal and presentation efforts through CAD models and illustrationsSupports hardware procurement, up to and including interfacing with machine shopsAssists program development efforts as needed by generating Bill of Materials for assemblies, soliciting quotes from suppliers as needed, tracking delivery dates and on- time status, working to resolve issues, providing updates to Program ManagersAssists Development and Test Engineers in conducting lab and field tests, set-up/tear down of sensors and cameras, and assembly test article and fixturesAdditional tasks may include supporting prototyping, hardware assembly, development, testing, and product qualificationWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required Education: High School DiplomaPreferred Education: Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s DegreeCandidate must be proficient in SolidWorks, 2+ years’ experience desiredPrior experience creating CAD drawings and modelsFamiliar with drawing conventions including geometric tolerancesStrong mechanical aptitude and creativity in solving problemsMust be able to read drawings, and technical diagramsSelf-motivated, able to multi-task, work independently with minimal oversightGood communication and customer relationship skills are requiredMust be a U.S. CitizenMust hold or be able to obtain a DoD SECRET clearance
