Job Summary
The Office of Marketing and Communications in the Marsal Family School of Education is seeking hiring a team member who brings strong writing skills, an ability with graphic design principles and software, and a mind for marketing our world-renowned programs to prospective students.
This position will have frequent interaction with faculty and staff and students around the school, and a particularly close collaboration with the recruitment and admissions team. The position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications.
Responsibilities*
Shape platform-specific social media strategies in collaboration with our part-time social media liaison who works in the VP-Communications office. (This position has no reporting relationship with that liaison or the Office of the VP for Communications)
Create content calendar and schedule posts for social media platforms. Cadence of posts must conform to U-M standards for active accounts (https://socialmedia.umich.edu/strategy/) . Current platforms include Instagram, Facebook, and X. This role will be responsible for launching LinkedIn.
Create written content for organic and paid social media posts and campaigns; digital advertisements; websites; and email campaigns.
Design appropriately branded graphics to accompany the content described above.
Project manage marketing-related content development in coordination with staff, faculty, and students at the Marsal School. Examples: work with recruitment team to highlight application process, work with student ambassadors on social media take-overs, work with development and alumni relations to highlight alumni accomplishments and the impact of giving, and work with research office to announce grants and research discoveries.
In partnership with the school's web team and recruitment team, track the success of campaigns and other marketing efforts. Make recommendations for future efforts based on the performance of past/existing campaigns.
Manage and maintain image repository.
Required Qualifications*
2 + years experience in a communications/marketing role with direct responsibility for the work described in the Responsibilities section of this job posting
Adobe Creative Suite (final round interview will include a short in-person skills test)
Exceptional writing skills
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to consider diverse perspectives when developing content
Experience adapting marketing materials to match audience and platform
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities and produce timely results
Desired Qualifications*
Familiarity with Search Engine Optimization and Google Analytics 4
Familiarity with social listening and content management tools
Experience producing vertical video
Experience running paid digital campaigns on any platform
Experience setting up paid digital campaigns
Work Locations
The Marsal Family School of Education is located at 610 E. University, Ann Arbor, MI 48109. While the majority of the work days will be on site at the Marsal School, this role has the possibility of a flexible schedule of up to two days per week performed remotely. In person presence will be required for "community days" and events in addition to regularly scheduled on-site days. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change dependent upon the business needs of the school and/or university requirements.
Working hours are somewhat flexible with an expectation of availability approximately 9 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday.
