The team leverages technical knowledge, 3D and 2D pattern software, and data to deliver exceptional fitting products. In addition to fit, the Technical Design Team is responsible for consistent fit across the entire size range and providing innovative construction recommendations.
Position Overview:
The Director of Technical Design will partner with various teams including Raw Materials, Product Development, Design, Merchandising, Sourcing, Sustainability, and CX, as well as our global factory network to ensure each style follows our standards. You will manage Everlane’s SKU development, fit, sizing, and customer return data analytics across all product categories.
Your day-to-day:
Oversee Everlane’s sample development process for all apparel products ensuring on-time sample delivery.
Oversee fit innovation strategy, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting including new software and processes.
Partner with Product Development on factory allocation while managing sample room capacity to ensure on-time sample delivery.
Collaboratively oversee the fit process with design, product development, and merchandising to ensure “best in class” fits.
Review and analyze monthly return rates while partnering cross-functionally on refit priorities.
Oversee fit clinics, ensuring data analytics and product improvements where needed.
Manage style count and development ratios across the technical design team based on skill set and business initiatives.
Create and maintain the technical design budget including sampling, fittings, and freelancers.
Coach and mentor a team of 3-4 direct reports.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
10+ years of technical design experience.
In-depth pattern making experience in a variety of product categories.
A passion for making the best product possible with attention to detail.
A natural love for teaching and mentoring a diverse group of individuals.
A love for data and comfort with various business systems (Excel, Adobe, Google Suite, 3D software, PLM, ERP).
A strong background in garment construction, raw materials, and understanding the apparel product lifecycle.
The ability to travel domestically/internationally and work with different countries and their cultural norms.
The ability to work a flexible schedule that includes early mornings, nights, weekends, and some holidays.

The compensation range for this role is $142,000-$175,000. This range is based on the San Francisco geographic area and the actual pay may vary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
