Media & Communications Coordinator
Pay Details:
The starting hourly rate range for this position is $20.50 to $25.50 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will take internal value, peer equity, job-related factors, and other organizational considerations into account.
The Media & Communications Coordinator supports venue public relations and communications initiatives to enhance the visibility and reputation of Honda Center, The Grove, and future OCVIBE venues. This role requires a proactive professional with strong writing, media relations, and organizational skills to support the organization's goals. The Coordinator will field media inquiries, be the onsite media contact at events, assist in developing press materials, serve as venue historian, and collaborate across departments to ensure consistent messaging and impactful campaigns. With a focus on strategic thinking, ideation, and execution, the Coordinator will be critical in supporting communications efforts.
Responsibilities
Serve as the onsite media contact for concerts and events, which includes attending tour meetings, obtaining media credentials, serve as media liaison onsite, and escorting media to approved locations throughout the show
Assist the Manager in strategic publicity campaigns for Honda Center, The Grove, ARTIC, and future OCVIBE venues
Act as venue historian by archiving event photos, press coverage, history of events, quotes, and documentation to support historical and promotional needs
Write, edit, and distribute press materials, including bi-weekly event calendars
Manage and respond to media inquiries for events and provide accurate, timely information
Build and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media to enhance coverage opportunities
Submit creative requests for necessary creative assets for each event not limited to onsite activations, artist gifts, and backstage graphics
Compile, format, and distribute daily press clippings and monitor venue and performer-related news
Research and share information with the internal team on upcoming performers
Assist Manager with maintaining and updating media list media contact lists, ensuring accuracy and relevance
Take meeting notes, send out recaps, and track project status
Support website management by ensuring content accuracy and alignment with communications strategies
Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, ticketing, and operations teams to ensure cohesive messaging
Provide creative input and ideation for publicity campaigns and marketing initiatives
Skills Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced degrees in communication, journalism, marketing or related field is a plus
Minimum 1-3 years' experience in a full-time public relations or communications role Experience in the live entertainment business is a plus
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Spanish language is a plus
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word
Experience with photo editing is a plus
Experience interacting with media, local dignitaries, celebrities, and VIP guests
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Approachable and friendly but assertive
Must have strong interest in live event PR and communications
Able to maintain confidentiality
Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Able to handle multiple projects at a time and work well under pressure

Education - Bachelor's Degree
